I'm here at work tonight, watching the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. I came in here to watch it because I like the quality of picture on the big plasma TVs we have at work, and also because the quality of the picture at home is dependent upon how well my rabbit ears are picking up the signal. This year's contest is between Boise State and Oklahoma.
Back during the first of November I flew to Boise to watch Boise State play Fresno State. The game was good to watch—kind of a blowout—but watching a game in person which is being played the "Smurf Turf" is always a hoot. My brother Scott and myself were lucky enough to be hooked up with sideline passes, courtesy of my uncle Damon. It was the coolest thing! Scott, Damon, and myself spent most of the time right on the goal line. I saw a lot of action, and even had to jump out of the way a couple times as players slammed into the sideline barriers.
The game was covered by ESPN2 in HD and my mom TiVo'ed the game. Later in November I was back out in Rexburg attending a funeral and got to watch the game with my brother Scott. We were pausing and rewinding, looking if we could see ourselves on TV. Wow! I almost got as much air time as Ian Johnson, Boise State's star running back. It was sweet!!!
Woohoo! Boise State just scored against Oklahoma. 7-0 Take that Stoops! That's what you get for challenging the spot on the previous play.
I invited all my coworkers to come watch the game with me. I even offered to host a game night and brought in Settlers of Catan. No one has showed up yet, I wonder if anyone else will?
Yeaaaaaaaaaaah! Boise just stuffed Oklahoma on the ensuing kickoff at the 11 yard line. Next play...FUMBLE, BOISE STATE RECOVERS!!!!! IaN Johnson just ran it down Oklahoma's throat and is inside the 3 yard line. Next play is another rush up the middle. TOUCHDOWN IAN JOHNSON!!!!!
So anyways, like I was saying, no one else has showed up. I also brought in a huge bowl of Chex Mix. Oh well, I'll have fun watching the game by myself.
Update 7:23pm: Zabransky hooks up with James to score right before the half. That was an amazing run after the catch! The score is now 21-10. It will be interesting to see what happens in the second half.
Update 9:24pm: Oklahoma goes for the 2pt conversion and ties the game at 28. OMG, Zabransky just threw a pick that was run back for a touchdown. Score is now 35-28 for Oklahoma, 1:02 left on the clock. Game isn't over yet, but still...
Update 9:32pm: Holy ***! I thought the game was over. Boise State just scored on a flea flicker. 7 seconds left in the game. OMG!
Update 9:48pm: Game over. Oklahoma scored in the first overtime and kicked the extra point. Boise State also scored and went for the 2 point conversion and got it. BOISE STATE WINS!!!!! This was a great game. Too bad I couldn't attend it in person. Damon could only get 4 tickets so my dad and 3 brothers attended. There were on the 50 yard line about 3-4 rows up. Wow, I wish I was there. This was very cool. Tomorrow at the office is going to be fun!
