From the IEBlog
- 100 Million downloads of IE7
- Over 25% of all visitors to websites in the US were using IE7
Whoa! 25%?! Let's be realistic here. These are users switching from IE6 to IE7. People that primarily use Firefox and or Safari may have downloaded IE7 (Mac users upgrade their XP partitions), but aren't using it regularly. I know that I still use Firefox as my primary browser. No reason in particular, call it habit.
But back to my point. Firefox has roughly 9-11%, and Safari has about 2-3% of the browser market. So realistically, IE7 has more market share than Firefox and Safari combined. All web designers in the world should agree that this isn't a bad thing. We want IE6 to go away, we want it to die. Implementing any type of web-standard-based design is a nightmare on IE6.
So remember, all you Mac users and Linux zealots around the world, the growth of IE7 is a very, very good thing.
