For well over the last month I've been working on a project which has recently launched and which I can now talk about. It is in conjunction with the new truck Freightliner just announced, the Cascadia. Ben Fogarty has a sweet writeup about the project, so rather than rehash what he has already said, I recommend you to his fabulous post. But if you're one of those impatient types, then you can jump straight to the work by visiting these two new sites (technically one of them isn't exactly a new site, but oh well).
One thing you'll notice is that we're using more video. This is something that goes hand-in-hand with what was discussed at MIX07. Another thing to note is that using more video doesn't mean we're locking ourselves into a technology, or that we're locking our audiences into a specific platform. We can now use Flash, Quicktime, or even Silverlight to distribute all types of video content to all platforms.
This has a tremendous impact to those of us who work in a shop that designs and developers highly interactive sites. One of my goals (and what should be one of yours) is that we get to a point where our video producer focuses on just creating sweet videos without also having to worry about creating customized/skinned video players and making sure they are properly injected into the web pages (e.g. extra time spent debugging). As an industry, I think we're getting a lot closer to being able to create the rich interactive at an affordable price for all clients and all sites, I can just feel it.
